After an accident, vehicles must stay in place until the police give permission to move them. However, following a recently passed legislation, in the event of a road collision between motor vehicles on any road (including open space, square and/or public place), if the drivers involved mutually agree to move the vehicles involved in the collision, and:
(a) there are no apparent bodily injuries to any of the persons involved;
(d) it is reasonable under the circumstances prevailing at the time on the roadway and the road,
(b) the intervention and/or presence of the Cyprus Police at the scene is not required;
(c) the vehicles involved can be moved without towing and without causing further damage either to them or to the road surface;
and then, subject to the below, the vehicles shall be moved to the nearest point so as not to obstruct the remaining traffic.
In case it has been agreed to move the vehicles, before doing so, the drivers involved must:
(a) immediately notify their insurance companies of the collision;
(b) exchange names, insurance policy numbers, driving licence numbers, vehicle details, and phone numbers;
(c) promptly take photographs of the accident scene, showing the vehicles’ final positions, registration numbers, damages, and surroundings;
(d) exchange the photographs and send them to the person designated by their insurance company or its representative.
